About Fruit Meat Shigureni
What is Fruit Meat?
Fruit meat is a sustainable alternative meat made from jackfruit.
It is richer in fiber than burdock root, lower in calories, and contains almost no carbohydrates and fat. It is a healthy and wholesome food.
Sustainable Food Asia is the only company in Japan that imports and sells fruit meat developed by Nanka, a company based in Singapore and Malaysia, with the aim of solving the problems of jackfruit waste and the resulting environmental destruction in the Kalimantan region, as well as the health issues caused by high-calorie foods that are spreading in Southeast Asia. Sustainable Food Asia is the only importer and distributor of fruit meat in Japan in cooperation with Nanka.
What is Fruit Meat Stew?
Fruit meat, characterized by its chewiness and juiciness, is seasoned with soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, and ginger and boiled down in the same way as when making conventional shigureni. We will start selling omusubi (rice balls) with the new sustainable ingredient.
Both the taste and texture are not recognizable as fruit unless you are told, and this is a menu item that can only be found here in Japan.
Other rice ball menu items
Rice: Yamagata's "Tsuyahime" rice (Shiki Fu~mu)
