Sustainable Food Asia participated in the Sabah International Blue Economy Conference (SIBEC) held in Tawau, Sabah, Malaysia on November 20, 2024. Our Director of Malaysia, Boon Lee, participated as a speaker to discuss sustainable economic development and innovation promotion in Sabah.
The conference focused on environmental conservation, sustainable aquaculture, and building resilient food supply chains for the next generation. Special emphasis was placed on environmental conservation efforts in ecotourism and forest management, the development of aquaculture using the latest technology, and resource conservation with an eye to the future.

The Sabah government also stressed the importance of sustainable practices in each of its industries, including the palm oil industry, agriculture, and renewable energy.
Through this forum, it was reaffirmed that the entire value chain, from production to distribution, is essential for the establishment of a sustainable food system, and in particular, the importance of effective management of by-products generated in each process was discussed.
IT WAS A VALUABLE OPPORTUNITY TO REAFFIRM THE IMPORTANCE OF INTER-INDUSTRY COOPERATION AND INNOVATION FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FOR SABAH AND THE ASEAN REGION AS A WHOLE.
